Z3Talent’s client, Spyder Construction, is looking for a high-impact Director of Operations to oversee and optimize the daily execution of construction projects. This role is pivotal to Spyder’s growth, requiring someone who is both a strategic leader and a hands-on operator. This is a highly visible leadership role which will influence and assist in shaping the future of the business with a bright future and a commitment to advancing everyone’s career. This is a key succession role where the successful individual will be positioned for long-term leadership.

Initially, the Director of Operations will spend about 50% of their time in the office and 50% of their time in the field, ensuring projects run on time, on budget, and to the highest standards while mentoring and developing the next generation of leaders within the company. This individual will serve as the primary leader for field operations, enabling the COO to focus on strategic growth while ensuring flawless execution on-site.

Role Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Field Operations team, including Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, and Foremen.

  • Lead weekly production meetings to ensure alignment across all active projects.

  • Oversee project execution, financial projections, and revenue forecasting to ensure profitability.

  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency standards and timelines are met.

  • Establish and refine best practices for safety, scheduling, and budget adherence. Ensure clear alignment between field and office operations to drive efficiency and eliminate bottlenecks.

  • Own escalation management, providing solutions to prevent project delays.

  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager and Training Manager on a regular basis to determine upcoming business needs.

  • Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.

  • Create structured mentorship and training programs for field personnel to develop future leaders.

 Process & Performance Optimization

  • Develop data-driven decision-making processes for staffing, scheduling, and project forecasting.

  • Strengthen vendor and subcontractor partnerships to support operational growth.

  • Implement scalable operational playbooks, ensuring efficiency as the company expands.

  • Ensure client satisfaction and retention, delivering seamless project execution that exceeds expectations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years of construction leadership experience, managing teams of 25+ employees. Familiarity with tenant improvement or restoration projects would be a plus.

  • Experience overseeing multiple simultaneous construction projects with a range of complexity and scale.

  • Proven success in organizational and time management, field operations, project execution, and financial oversight.

  • Prior experience overseeing projects across the U.S. including experience training and developing a traveling project management team and systems.

  • Experience with a company that has gone through an extreme growth period. ($50M to $200M as an example.)

  • Strong technology and data literacy skills are required for this role.  Being able to leverage data for forecasting, staffing decisions and operational efficiency. Proficiency in MS Office Suite Tools and exposure to schedule software.

  • Experience with municipality permitting is a plus but not required.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits Package:

  • Base Salary Range:  $140,000 - $185,000
